OTHER DECORATIVE FINISHES
Antiquing and distressing are techniques used on painted and metallic finishes creating the convincing effect of age, patina and the illusion of the scars of time. These techniques involve the use of glazes, washes, stains, abrasives and tools specifically designed to alter the physical appearance of the new wood surface. The crackle finish is an example of a distressed finish created by a glazing liquid that can also be antiqued to give it an even more aged look. This technique is usually added to cabinets or similar wood fixture.
Wall glazing adds depth and richness to a painted finish. The glaze is applied over an opaque paint letting the color show while adding light and intensity to the finish.
